Sandy Downs.The 8 acre migrating sand dune located within Sandy Downs, for which the site is known, created an interesting master planning challenge for the Pierson Land Works team. The intent of the design was to create a flexible plan that could not only alter to address the ever moving sand dune, but also be implemented in phases to address budgetary allowances and changes in community need. The resulting master plan for the 187 acre park reflects the input of numerous community stakeholders and includes such elements as an amphitheater, 4-H Facilities, riding arenas, a children’s garden, passive multi-use recreational trails, and space to allow the continued migration of the sand dune. |
